Social media are reporting strong explosions and a fire in the Rylsk district, part of the Russian Federation's Kursk region. The fire reportedly broke out in the village of Stepanovka.

The cause of the fire remains unclear. Some sources suggest a Russian military convoy was set ablaze. There are also reports of a fire in the village of Oktyabrskoye within the Kursk region. "If this is true, it is quite far from Sudzha," comments Euromaidan Press. Sudzha is notable for housing the last pumping point for Russian gas to Europe before the border.

Ukrainian attack on Russian territory

In one of the largest attacks on Russian territory since the beginning of the war, around 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers breached the Russian border into the Kursk region on Tuesday morning. They advanced with tanks and armored vehicles under the cover of drones and artillery, according to Reuters, citing Russian officials.

The Ukrainian forces moved north through border fields and forests to reach Sudzha, where the last pumping point for Russian gas to Europe before the border is situated.
