In a fresh offensive, Ukraine targeted Russian fuel depots with drones. Overnight, these drones hit oil tanks near Anapa, setting off a blaze, reports Kommersant.
The operational command in the Krasnodar Territory confirmed that the assault damaged several oil tanks, but fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Official reports mention that 6 UAV drones were intercepted and shot down, yet some managed to crash within the oil depot's vicinity.
Videos of the inferno circulating on Telegram channels reveal fires erupting in two sections of the oil depot.
Ukraine targets infrastructure
By destroying fuel infrastructure, Ukrainian drones aim to interrupt supply lines to the front. As previously covered by money.pl, Ukraine's ongoing assaults are precipitating another fuel crisis in Russia.
These strikes on refineries have slashed the fuel production capacity by approximately 4% to 7%, varying by report. Concurrently, fuel prices have surged by 25%. Faced with these challenges, the Kremlin has been compelled to curtail fuel exports to satisfy the surge in domestic demand.
Reuters has calculated that the operational capacity of Russian refineries knocked out in the first quarter of 2024 due to drone strikes equated to roughly 4.6 million tons of crude oil (or about 370,500 barrels per day).
