Ukrainian drones hit Russian fiber optics plant in Saransk attack
Russian media report that overnight, several Ukrainian army drones attacked the Optic Fiber Systems factory in Saransk, Russia. This city, located in the Republic of Mordovia, is approximately 4,350 miles from the Ukrainian border. The facility, which produces fiber optic cables, was reportedly hit. Recordings of the incident have appeared online.
Despite negotiations between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine, fighting continues on the front lines. The Ukrainian and Russian armies regularly strike militarily significant targets.
This locality in the Mordovia region is approximately 4,350 miles from the Ukrainian border. According to Russian media, the attack was carried out by Ukrainian armed forces, and several drones struck the factory. Residents of the region have posted recordings of the incident on social media.
In the video footage shared online, drones can be seen flying over the factory and hitting specific targets. After the attack, there was a large explosion and fire at the plant which produces fiber optic cables used in controlling combat drones.
Local authorities also reported an attack on an industrial plant in Chapayevsk. Initial findings suggest that drones attacked the Promsintez plant, which produces explosive materials for the Russian army, added Ukrainian blogger and former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Anton Herashchenko, reporting on the attack on another Russian factory.
For now, the Ukrainian army has not confirmed its involvement in the attack on Russian armament facilities.
