Ukrainian drones disrupt Moscow: Airports closed, injuries reported
At least 32 Ukrainian drones attacked Moscow early Sunday morning, injuring one person, according to local authorities. The largest airport in the capital, Sheremetyevo, was temporarily closed.
This is the largest Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow to date. According to information provided by local authorities, all unmanned aircraft were destroyed in the Ramenskoye and Kolomenskoye areas of the Moscow region and in the city of Domodedovo, southwest of Moscow. Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed these reports.
The attack caused significant disruptions to air traffic. The largest Moscow airport, Sheremetyevo, was temporarily closed, and restrictions were also placed at the Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, and Vnukovo airports.
The governor of the Moscow region, Andrey Vorobyov, stated on Telegram that one person was injured as a result of the attack.
At the same time, Ukrainian drones attacked the Bryansk and Kaluga regions. The governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, wrote on Telegram: "Emergency services and fire brigades are on-site," though he did not disclose any details. Several residential buildings caught fire.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian air defenses destroyed a total of 23 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 17 over Bryansk. Vladislav Shapsha, governor of the Kaluga region, reported that a non-residential building caught fire due to the attack.
The previous largest drone attack on Moscow occurred in September when the capital was attacked by 20 unmanned aircraft.
