Ukrainian couple arrested for bomb linked to Russian attack
The Security Service of Ukraine detained a married couple on Thursday who allegedly built a bomb used in a terrorist attack inspired by Russia. The detained 37-year-old man is a deserter who previously served in the Ukrainian army.
The bomb, constructed by the 37-year-old man and his 25-year-old wife, was used in an attack carried out in Dnipro on December 14, 2024. One person died, and four were injured in the incident.
Acting on orders from Russian services, the couple reportedly hid the explosive in a designated location and then observed its pickup by the perpetrator of the attack.
After the attack, the couple moved to another apartment to try to cover their tracks. They were detained at the new address, where evidence of their contacts with Russian services was found, including instructions on producing explosives.
Charges against the Ukrainian couple: they built a bomb
Both individuals have been charged with preparing a terrorist act and are currently in custody. Ukrainian services are continuing efforts to investigate the circumstances of the attack fully.
