He made a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian sport. His loss is a great tragedy for the entire country. Roman Hołowatiuk will remain in Ukraine's history and in our memory forever. Rest in peace, our Hero and Champion - the Kamianets-Podilskyi City Council in the Khmelnytskyi region reported on social media.
In its farewell post, the Ukrainian Sports Committee also emphasized that the "country has lost a high-class athlete, a patriot." The touching post also mentioned Hołowatiuk's remarkable achievements.
