Ukraine's Zelensky says Putin sabotages peace efforts

"Putin cannot exit this war because that would leave him with nothing. That is why he is now doing everything he can to sabotage diplomacy by setting extremely difficult and unacceptable conditions right from the start, even before a ceasefire," wrote Volodymyr Zelensky on platform X.

On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his concerns about Vladimir Putin's actions in the context of the war with Ukraine. Zelensky emphasized that the Russian leader cannot withdraw from the conflict, which leads to sabotaging all attempts to reach a peace agreement.

Putin blocks diplomacy

In his post on platform X, Zelensky noted that Putin is setting "extremely difficult and unacceptable conditions" even at the stage of ceasefire talks. "Putin cannot exit this war because that would leave him with nothing. That is why he is now doing everything he can to sabotage diplomacy by setting extremely difficult and unacceptable conditions right from the start, even before a ceasefire," Zelensky wrote.

The Ukrainian president warns that, in response to proposals to cease fire, Putin will attempt to draw the world into "endless discussions," similar to the Minsk agreements regarding Donbas. "Every condition Putin puts forward is just an attempt to block any diplomacy. This is how Russia works. And we warned about this," Zelensky added.
