In an interview with CNN, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Ukrainian army's next steps on the battlefield will hinge on military support from the United States.

Zelensky relayed that General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the supreme commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, is formulating two strategies for advancing the conflict.

He explained, "If Kyiv receives assistance from the US, we will be equipped to fend off Russia's onslaught. Otherwise, we must prioritize defense", according to CNN's report.

Zelensky conceded that without help from the US, it would be challenging for the Ukrainian army to secure further victories at the front line, and defense against the aggressor's assaults this year could be strenuous.

"Our people will be prepared, but the artillery and brigades may not be... they may be ill-equipped for not just our counter-offensive, but also for defense and maintaining control. It's going to be extremely tough," said Zelensky.
