Ukraine's historic advance prompts rush of aid for Kursk evacuees

For several days, the Ukrainian offensive has been ongoing in the Kursk region of Russia. In response, many regions have organized aid collections for the Russians evacuated from the combat zone. One such collection was initiated by the leader of Dagestan, who encouraged residents to donate one day's earnings.

In February 2022, Russia attacked Ukraine, but now Ukraine is on the offensive. For several days, Ukrainians have been conducting attacks in the Kursk region. This is a historic moment, as it is the first time since World War II that a foreign army has entered Russian territory.

The Russians didn't even consider such a scenario, as evident from the ease and speed of Ukrainian territorial gains. In many places, there is a shortage of essential products. For this reason, more and more money and goods collections are appearing across Russia to support the residents of the attacked areas.

Dagestan's leader appeals to residents

Dagestan’s leader, Sergei Melikov, appealed to his citizens. He encourages "all who are willing" to donate their one-day salary to the residents of the Kursk region. To this end, he has also created a special fund called "All Together."

Melikov on 13 August on his Telegram channel announced that among Dagestanis, there is no indifference to what is happening in the Kursk region. Today they are all with them in their thoughts and feelings, and many want to help but do not know how to help our friends from Kursk. He claimed the funds would be transfered to their friends who have fallen victim to the inhumane crimes of our enemies.

Similar aid is being encouraged by Moscow authorities and employees of the Bank of Russia, who are offering special loans to the evacuees.
