Ukraine unleashes precision airstrikes on Russian military targets

The Ukrainians struck a Russian military platoon base in the Kursk region, located in the southwestern part of Russia. "This is what an airstrike using precision-guided GBU-39 bombs looks like," said Ukrainian Air Force Commander General Mykola Oleschuk on social media, attaching a video to his post. The GBU-39 is an American glide bomb.

According to Oleschuk, "It hit the command centre for combat drones, the electronic warfare unit, equipment, weapons, and up to 40 Russian soldiers."

Allies, including the United States, are supplying Ukrainian forces with weapons but have imposed restrictions on how and when they can be used on Russian territory, fearing that such attacks could prompt retaliation that might draw NATO countries into the war.

On Wednesday, it was reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are using American HIMARS rocket systems to destroy pontoon bridges and engineering equipment in the Kursk region. As a result, Russian troops are facing severe logistical problems.

In the past few hours, the Ukrainians also succeeded in the port of Kavkaz in the Krasnodar region in southwestern Russia. A rail ferry carrying 30 fuel tanks was sunk there by Ukrainian forces.

The propaganda agency RIA Novosti wrote, citing rescue services, that five people were on board at the time of the attack, and their fate is unknown. The Telegram channel Baza, however, reported that 15 people were on the ferry. Port workers were evacuated.

The Meduza service, citing the Telegram channel Krymskij Vietie, wrote that a Ukrainian missile hit the ferry.
