Ukraine strikes back: Kursk Oblast hit by artillery and drones
Ukraine not only defends itself but also retaliates with attacks. The Russian agency Tass reported that Ukrainian forces attacked Russian territory, entering the border region of Kursk Oblast. In response to these events, Russian authorities have declared a state of emergency in the region.
Ukrainian attacks began on Monday, but the information appeared in the media only on the second day of the incursion. A nighttime drone invasion and artillery shelling preceded the entire operation. Ukrainian forces attempted to cross the border at least four times, with two successful operations.
The Russian agency Tass reported that Ukrainian soldiers crossed the border in the Sudzha and Korenevo areas, prompting an immediate reaction from the Russian side.
In response to the intensification of military actions by Ukrainian forces, a state of emergency was declared in Kursk Oblast near the border with Ukraine.
To counteract the consequences of foreign military presence in our region, I decided to declare a state of emergency," wrote the acting governor of Kursk Oblast, Alexei Smirnov, on social media.
Russian authorities evacuated several thousand residents of the region
On Wednesday, the acting governor of Kursk Oblast, Alexei Smirnov, reported a missile threat. Authorities evacuated several thousand regional residents, canceled all mass gatherings, and organized blood donation drives. Additionally, over 600 people were placed in temporary accommodation centers. Despite these measures, Smirnov assured that "the situation in the region is under control."
Meanwhile, as reported by the Russian agency Tass, "battles involving helicopters are taking place at the border."
Everyone is waiting for the further development of events and possible steps taken by both sides.
