"Ukraine is fortifying positions on the frontline and near the border with Russia. The new defensive lines are intended to halt any future offensive that Russia is planning for May-June of this year," states Steel Front on the X platform, an organization owned by Akhmetov that supports the Ukrainian army.
Steel Front has facilitated the construction of 16 miles of defensive fortifications in the Donetsk region. "These fortifications are designed to serve as a reliable shield for our soldiers and residents, favoring peace in the most perilous zones," the organization asserts.
"Akhmetov has previously aided Ukrainian soldiers,*by providing bulletproof vests and prefabricated shelters manufactured in his factories," mentions the Biznesalert.pl, polish media service.
Ukraine Repels Russian Attacks
On Sunday, Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army, highlighted that the frontline situation has deteriorated, with Russian forces "actively engaging along the entire front, managing tactical advancements in several areas."
Among other areas, the fiercest confrontations are occurring near Kupiansk in the country's east, where Russian troops "have made partial headway but have been halted," General Syrskyi shared on Telegram.
The general revealed that Ukrainian forces had regrouped to new positions west of Berdychi, Semenivka, and Novomykhailivka villages. "To fortify defenses in these segments, units that have endured losses are being substituted with combat-ready units," he stated.
The commander also described a "tense situation" in the country's south without offering specifics.
