The United Kingdom has been facing a series of violent riots for several days after, in Southport near Liverpool, a 17-year-old knife-wielder killed three young girls and wounded five other children.
The attacker, a British citizen with Rwandan roots, incited anti-migration and far-right protesters to take to the streets, where they clashed with counter-protesters.
The country is experiencing violent clashes in numerous cities, with more than 400 arrests made. Prime Minister Keir Starmer convened a COBRA meeting to develop an action plan.
Countries warn travelers
Several countries reacted immediately, issuing warnings. Malaysia was the first, urging its citizens in the United Kingdom to avoid areas affected by protests, monitor the latest updates, and heed local authorities' advice.
Similar warnings were issued by Nigeria, Switzerland, and Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Canada and Australia issued warnings for travelers to the United Kingdom to exercise a high degree of caution "due to the threat of terrorism."
