The news was initially brought to the public's attention by TMZ. The news outlet reported that Hill was arrested at around 8:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday in Michigan, with references to court documents showing that the former UFC champion had attacked his older brother, James Anthony Hill Jr, resulting in severe injury.

The injured party, as per journal reports, is believed to be a current resident or former member of Hill's household. Michigan prosecutors have charged the MMA fighter with a crime related to domestic violence.

Hill was granted a release from jail a few hours after his arrest. The former UFC champion is set to attend an official hearing in January. He will be free until then. Further details of the case have not been revealed at the moment, including the nature of the injury sustained by his brother and his current condition.

Hill's representatives also weighed in. Brian Butler, an associate of his, offered a brief statement to the MMA Fighting portal. He flatly refuted media reports, proclaiming Hill's innocence. Hill himself has yet to comment on the situation.

"Recent sensationalist headlines about Jamahal Hill were spurred by an alleged disagreement between him and his older brother." "Jamahal staunchly maintains his innocence and refutes these false accusations. We will abstain from further comment on this matter until the truth is revealed in court," quipped Butler.

In January 2023, Jamahal Hill overcame Glover Taixera via the judge's verdict, earning the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion title. Unfortunately, Hill did not manage to defend his title - in July, he sustained an Achilles tendon injury and was forced to vacate the belt.
