UAE secures $1.4B Chinook deal during Trump's Mideast tour
Washington has approved the sale of six Chinook helicopters and other military equipment to the United Arab Emirates, with an estimated value of $1.4 billion, the U.S. administration announced on Monday.
This decision was made in connection with Donald Trump's tour of the Middle East, where he is expected to visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, Reuters reported.

During this trip, Trump hopes to secure significant economic contracts covering defense, aviation, energy, and artificial intelligence, in addition to addressing geopolitical issues related to Gaza and Iran.
The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) noted that the sale is expected to strengthen the security of a significant regional partner. It emphasized the strategic role of the United Arab Emirates as a crucial U.S. ally in supporting political stability and economic progress in the Middle East.
The State Department approved this decision, and the DSCA notified Congress on Monday, which has 30 days to raise any objections.
Besides the military CH-47F Chinook transport helicopters from the American manufacturer Boeing, a $130 million contract was also approved for the maintenance of F-16 fighters.
