U.S. envoy: Ukraine to decide on peace talks, not imposed

- No one will impose a peace deal on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky - General Keith Kellogg, the U.S. special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, told reporters on Monday at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

He added it is the president of Ukraine and the citizens of that country who will make the decision in this matter.

Kellogg noted that the main task of the United States is to provide security guarantees to Ukraine. He stated that the main task is to provide security guarantees to Ukraine, also adding that it is not reasonable for everyone to participate in the talks regarding the peace agreement in Ukraine.

The general thus softens his stance on Ukraine. During the Munich Security Conference, which ended on Sunday, the U.S. special envoy for Ukraine and Russia said that Europe would not be directly at the negotiating table about ending the war in Ukraine.

Kellogg also mentioned the upcoming visit to Ukraine, which is still being prepared.
