U.S. envoy slams Medvedev's World War III rhetoric

The U.S. special envoy to Ukraine, Gen. Keith Kellogg, responded to Dmitry Medvedev's post, in which he mentioned World War III. "Stoking fears of WW III is an unfortunate, reckless comment by Medvedev and unfitting of a world power," wrote Trump's advisor.

"Regarding Trump's words about Putin 'playing with fire' and 'really bad things' happening to Russia. I only know of one REALLY BAD thing — WWIII," Medvedev wrote on his profile on platform X.

These words are a response to an earlier post by the U.S. President on the Truth Social platform. "What Vladimir Putin doesn’t realize is that if it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD. He’s playing with fire!" - Trump wrote on Tuesday.

Kellogg sharply addresses Medvedev. "Stoking fears"

"Stoking fears of WW III is an unfortunate, reckless comment by Medvedev and unfitting of a world power," wrote Gen. Keith Kellogg on the X service.

He assured that Trump is working on ending the war and ensuring that people in Ukraine stop dying. He added that the United States is still waiting for the Russian memorandum on a future peace treaty. "Cease fire" - Gen. Kellogg concluded his post.

Will there be new sanctions on Russia?

Last week, the American press reported that pressure is mounting on Trump in Congress to impose new sanctions on Russia. A draft bill imposing restrictions on the Russian banking and energy sectors, as well as introducing 500% tariffs on goods from countries purchasing raw materials from Russia, has already been signed by 81 out of 100 senators. According to Punchbowl News, Republican senators believe that Vladimir Putin is "outplaying" the president and feigning willingness to negotiate.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio assured last week that the Trump administration would support this bill if there is no progress in peace negotiations. He emphasized that Trump has so far refrained from threatening sanctions to avoid discouraging Russia from continuing talks.

According to CNN and "The Wall Street Journal," Donald Trump may announce new sanctions against Russia as early as this week.
