During Thursday's press briefing, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby provided details about the new tranche of military aid. The package includes missile systems for air defense, artillery ammunition, drones, and armored vehicles.
Although the value of the equipment supplied was not disclosed, earlier reports suggested it costs around 500 million dollars.
The package announced on Thursday is the 72nd tranche of weaponry given to Ukraine from U.S. reserves, and the total value of delivered and promised aid already exceeds 63 billion dollars.
Kirby announced that the Biden administration is preparing additional support tranches and plans to continue arms deliveries until the end of the term. However, it's unclear whether the entire available pool of funds will be utilized before the change of power. Currently, the administration still has nearly 7 billion dollars available for this purpose.
