Ukraine and the United States may sign a memorandum concerning the future completion of a comprehensive mineral agreement. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a press conference, as reported by local media, including the Unian agency.

Zelenskyy: Letter of intent on mineral agreement with the U.S.

Zelenskyy mentioned that a technical meeting took place a week ago, which turned out to be "productive" and "positive". He added that discussions on the details occurred on Wednesday and were continuing into Thursday.

Zelenskyy stated that Yulia Svyrydenko, First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economic Development and Trade, is collaborating closely with Scott Bessent’s team at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, as well as with Bessent himself. He added that a few days ago, the Americans suggested that the Ukrainians take a step back. This does not change the fact that a letter of intent for the future mineral agreement might be signed today, remotely.

Zelenskyy also responded to Trump's statements, which described the missile attack on Sumy that killed over 30 people as a "mistake." The Ukrainian leader firmly stated that the Russian operation targeting Sumy should not be seen as a "mistake" but as an act of murder, deliberately aimed at the city’s center. He stressed that there can be no justification for launching missile strikes on a populated urban area.
