It's important to note that chicken drumsticks are not the most common dinner choice for many people. Some might even consider them a "second category" meat, somewhere between offal and pork cutlet. However, I believe this poultry product is an excellent dinner ingredient. It's affordable, nutritious, and easy to handle. But before they head to the oven, they need a touch of specific flavor.
Spices, of course, add character to chicken drumsticks. Provençal herbs (or a custom herb blend), garlic, and sweet or hot paprika work perfectly. However, you have to admit that this list is somewhat clichéd. The story changes with the next spice I add to chicken drumsticks. Turmeric isn't often included in such a combination.
Turmeric for chicken
Why do I like to add turmeric so much to drumsticks and other poultry parts? Besides being a big fan of its health benefits, I believe its taste adds significant "character" to this delicate meat. In short, chicken drumsticks suddenly become a distinctive dish that almost everyone will enjoy. Furthermore, the meat gains a slightly yellow, appetizing appearance that makes it even more enticing!
