During a Wednesday meeting with a parliamentary group from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), President Erdogan didn't mince words about Prime Minister Netanyahu, dubbing him the "butcher of Gaza".
Will Israel Face Accountability?
In his speech, President Erdogan expressed concern and criticism over the actions of the Netanyahu administration. He believes that these actions not only diminishes hopes for turning the current humanitarian pause into a long-lasting truce, but also exacerbates anti-Semitism and threatens the lives of Jews worldwide.
Erdogan also emphasized Turkey's determination to hold Israel accountable for its deeds in front of international courts.
He decried: "since October 7, Palestinians have been subjected to some of the most abhorrent attacks in human history. Their mosques are bombed, schools are reduced to rubble, refugee camps targeted, and children brutally massacred".
"They Devastated Gaza and Committed Atrocities"
Erdogan has often censured Israel for its activities in the Gaza Strip, labelling it a "terrorist state" and accusing its actions of amounting to genocide.
"They devastated Gaza and commit countless atrocities. For 50 days they ravaged and ruined Gaza. Their actions will be viewed historically as a disgrace," insisted the Turkish President.
On the same day, Turkish Health Minister, Fahrettin Koca, shared on an online platform about dispatching a military aircraft to Egypt, which carried approximately 8.8 tons of medicines, medical equipment, nine medical professionals including doctors and nurses. As per the Turkish Minister, this support included incubators, an anesthesia machine, ventilators for newborns, operation tables, lamps, and various other medical supplies. He also announced plans for the aircraft to return to Turkey with patients, primarily children and their caregivers.
