Try this layered salad: The next generation of summer dishes
Salads are a large part of many people's diets and are often served on tables during birthdays or holidays. If you want to surprise your family with something new, skip the gyros or vegetable salads and try a layered salad.
Some love salads—especially those that contain not only vegetables and meat but also mayonnaise-based or Greek yogurt-based sauces. This is why some of the most popular salads in Poland are gyros and vegetable salads, which appear on tables during most family gatherings or holidays. But how about surprising your family with something different? The layered salad is so delicious that it will quickly win everyone's hearts.
Recipe for layered salad
The layered salad is similar to the gyros salad but much better. Its secret ingredient is a sauce made from Greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and dill. It's a great addition to spring and summer dishes.
How to make a layered salad?
Ingredients for the salad:
- 2 chicken fillets
- 2 romaine lettuces
- the white part of a leek
- a can of corn
- a red bell pepper
- gyros seasoning
Ingredients for the sauce:
- 1.5 cups of Greek yogurt
- a greenhouse cucumber
- a bunch of dill
- 2 cloves of garlic
- a tablespoon of olive oil
- a tablespoon of lemon juice
- a pinch of salt and pepper
Preparation of the layered salad
Start preparing the salad with the sauce. Wash the greenhouse cucumber and grate it with the skin on. Salt it and set it aside, then squeeze out the excess water. Transfer the cucumber to a bowl, add the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and olive oil. Chop the dill and press the garlic through a garlic press. Add them to the mixture. Sprinkle with pepper and mix.
Next, prepare the vegetables and meat for the salad. Tear the romaine lettuce and place it at the bottom of a bowl. Cut the chicken into pieces and fry it in gyros seasoning in a pan. Place it on top of the lettuce. Add a layer of sauce, corn, and diced red bell pepper.
The second-to-last layer of the salad is the chopped white leek. The final layer is the second layer of sauce, lightly sprinkled with dill. The layered salad can be served immediately. Enjoy!
