Hungary's Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, anticipates a new era in international relations following Donald Trump's inauguration. He suggested that "even the sun will shine differently in Brussels." According to the report, Orban believes that Trump's presidency will enhance the significance of rights on the continent and usher in a "golden era" in relations between Hungary and the United States.

A new force in the European Parliament

The Hungarian prime minister did not hide his enthusiasm for the anticipated changes in Europe influenced by the new U.S. policy. In the context of the rising importance of the right wing, Orban mentioned his party, Fidesz, and its allies. Last year, these groups united to form the "Patriots for Europe" coalition in the European Parliament, which has become the third-largest force in the institution.

Emphasizing his anti-EU rhetoric, Orban spoke of a "second phase of offensive" aimed at the "occupation of Brussels." According to him, members of his party are enthusiastic about the prospect of cooperating with the Trump administration. These statements have further intensified the tone of relations between Hungary and the European Union, which Orban regularly criticizes.

Opposition to Brussels

According to tvn24.pl, Orban consistently portrays Hungary as a counterbalance to the system governing the European Union, describing Brussels as "occupied by a leftist-liberal oligarchy."
