Texas authorities and Donald Trump's future administration are exploring the idea of constructing deportation centers on land acquired along the Rio Grande. According to NBC News, Governor Greg Abbott has talked with Tom Homan, Trump's future "border czar," about potentially using military resources for the transportation of migrants and infrastructure development.

Will a state of emergency help utilize the land?

The future Trump administration might declare a state of emergency to secure funds needed for building these centers and to use state properties. Texas Land and Natural Resource Commissioner Dawn Buckingham purchased the land for $3.8 million. Other planned locations include urban areas that could support deportation activities.

Donald Trump's "border czar"

The President-elect announced in November that Tom Homan would oversee the southern and northern borders, as well as "shipping and aviation security." He stressed that the former ICE chief would be tasked with "deporting illegal aliens to their countries of origin."

In mid-November, Donald Trump expressed confidence that the 62-year-old Homan would "do a great, long-awaited job." Observers have predicted that Homan would join the new administration as the person responsible for border security issues.

In an interview with CBS, Homan assured that the plans include "targeted arrests." - Based on ongoing investigations, we will know whom to arrest and where these individuals are most likely to be found, said the "border czar" in the interview.
