"Oftentimes these other countries are considered so-called allies. They’ve taken advantage of us for years," Trump thundered during his nomination speech, running under the Republican party. He outlined his vision for the economy and international relations in the 93-minute speech, which will go down as the longest nomination speech by any party in history.

"We will stop it"

"So-called allies - they’ve taken advantage of us for years. We lose jobs. We lose revenue and they gain everything and wipe out our businesses, wipe out our people. I stopped it for four years, I stopped it. And we’re really ready to make changes like nobody had seen before," said Trump.

He also promised to cut taxes and bring back factory jobs.

Bloomberg notes that in his speech, Trump refers to redirecting the remaining funds from Biden's flagship climate law, the Inflation Reduction Act.

"And all of the trillions of dollars that are sitting there not yet spent, we will redirect that money for important projects like roads, bridges, dams," said Trump. "And we will not allow it to be spent on the meaningless Green New scam ideas."

Furthermore, Trump emphasized that "I’m all for electric. They have their application. But if somebody wants to buy a gas-powered car, gasoline-powered car, or a hybrid, they’re going to be able to do it. And we’re going to make that change on Day 1," stating also explicitly - "I will end the electric vehicle mandate on day one."
