Trump's envoy predicts end to Ukraine war by 2025
General Keith Kellogg, Donald Trump's envoy for Ukraine, believes it is possible to end the war in Ukraine by 2025. "I think both sides are ready, and next year, we will succeed in ending the war in Ukraine," he said on Wednesday on Fox Business.
General Kellogg, Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, expressed his conviction that the conflict could conclude in 2025. In an interview with Fox Business, he emphasized that both Russia and Ukraine are exhausted by the ongoing fighting.
"It's like a cage fight. You have two fighters, and both want to give up. You just need a referee to separate them," Kellogg said.
Kellogg believes that Donald Trump has the vision and energy to lead peace talks. The general stressed that the current moment is ideal for ending the conflict, considering the enormous losses on both sides. It is estimated that Russia has lost between 350,000 and 400,000 soldiers, and Ukraine about 150,000 people.
The General criticized the attack by Ukrainian services on Russian General Igor Kirillov, suggesting that Ukrainians have "stretched the rules of war." Nevertheless, Kellogg believes the incident will not affect negotiations. "These are, in a sense, things that happen in war," he added.
Not everyone shares Kellogg's optimism. In an interview with Foreign Affairs, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that he does not see Russia ready to negotiate. "Maybe this will change throughout 2025," he added.
General Kellogg did not confirm reports of a planned visit to Kyiv but noted that if it happens, its purpose will be "fact-finding," not making political decisions.
