Trump's approval slips below majority early in second term
According to the latest Gallup poll, 45 percent of Americans have a positive view of President Donald Trump's actions, while 51 percent feel otherwise. This result comes just under a month after the start of his second term.
The Gallup poll results indicate that shortly after the beginning of President Donald Trump's second term, his work is positively viewed by 45 percent of Americans, while 51 percent of respondents disagree. Interestingly, in the first survey conducted after he took office on January 20 of this year, Trump was supported by 47 percent of respondents.
According to the FoxNews, the survey reveals that only 4 percent of Democrats and 37 percent of independent voters approve of the president's actions. Gallup highlights that the difference in opinion on Trump's work between the two main American parties is as high as 89 percent. For comparison, in October 2021, this difference for President Joe Biden was 88 percent.
A similar percentage of respondents expressed satisfaction with Trump's policies on immigration (46 percent), foreign affairs (44 percent), international trade (42 percent), and the economy (42 percent). Slightly fewer, 40 percent, approve of how the president is handling the situation in Ukraine and the conflict in the Middle East.
Gallup notes that at the same stage of his presidency, in February, Bill Clinton had an approval rating of 51 percent. The highest approval in history was recorded by John F. Kennedy (72 percent) and Jimmy Carter (71 percent).
Consternation in Europe
Recent statements by Donald Trump have caused consternation among European politicians and shocked Ukrainians. The U.S. leader called Volodymyr Zelensky "a dictator without elections." Some voices suggest that the American president is using Kremlin narratives.
