Trump's advisor hints at epic talks paving way for peace
- I thought the call was epic - said Steven Witkoff, special advisor to Donald Trump on Middle East affairs. This is how he described the American leader's discussion with Vladimir Putin. Witkoff disclosed when a complete ceasefire might be achieved.
Steven Witkoff said on Bloomberg TV that the complete ceasefire will be discussed in the coming days, believing ceasfire will be reached in a few weeks.
Additionally, Donald Trump's special advisor called the relations between Moscow and Washington "critically important."
Witkoff noted that the process leading to the truce began during a meeting in Saudi Arabia, was recently continued during talks in Moscow, and the Trump-Putin conversation was a consequence of these efforts.
Trump's advisor announced that a possible outcome of the ceasefire could be the lifting of sanctions against Russia. He indicated that sanctions will be eased following an agreement on a ceasefire in Ukraine.
"Epic" conversation
Witkoff noted that while some details still need to be finalized, the process will commence on Sunday in Jeddah. From there, efforts will be directed toward establishing a full ceasefire. He also mentioned that the discussion held today was particularly insightful regarding the necessary components for reaching this objective.
In reference to the leaders' conversation, he stated that it was "epic." - They were talking about how to save lives, how to stop the carnage ... I was proud to be an American sitting there listening - he noted in a conversation with Bloomberg TV.
