Trump vs. Harris: A political rivalry with a surprising past

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are set to battle for the White House. Interestingly, years ago, the former President of the USA supported his competitor when she was pursuing other positions. He even donated money to her campaign. Trump spoke openly about this and explained why he used to support Democrats.

The presidential elections will begin in the United States on Tuesday, November 5. The Republican candidate, former White House occupant Donald Trump, will face Kamala Harris, who represents the Democrats and is the current vice President of the United States.

The stakes in these elections are extremely high, and the campaign is full of emotions and tension. According to polls, the race for the presidency is incredibly close. We might have to wait many hours, or possibly even days, for the final election results in the USA.

Elections in the USA: Trump supported Harris's campaign

This is not the first time Donald Trump and Kamala Harris's paths have intersected. As noted by npr.org, the billionaire once supported his current competitor when she was running for lower positions. Donald Trump donated twice to Kamala Harris's reelection campaign when she was seeking the position of California Attorney General.

He donated five thousand dollars in September 2011 to Harris's 2014 campaign and one thousand dollars in February 2013. His daughter, Ivanka, also contributed two thousand dollars to Harris's campaign in 2014.

Harris became Attorney General in 2011 and was re-elected in 2014. She held that position until 2017 when she was sworn in as a United States Senator.

Harris received money from Trump. Here's what she did

It turns out Kamala Harris did not keep the funds Trump gave her. The entire six thousand dollars went to a non-profit organization in 2015 that works for the civil and human rights of Central American residents.

Donald Trump donated mostly to Democrats until 2010. He spoke openly about it at one of his 2016 campaign rallies when he first ran for the presidency. How did the Republican candidate explain his support for the opposing side?

- I have to pay them because when I want something, I get it. When I call, they do what I want, claimed Donald Trump. He even added that he supported Hillary Clinton, with whom he battled for the White House in 2016, a campaign that ended successfully for him.
