Trump touts tariffs to boost US wealth, optimistic on Ukraine talks
Donald Trump announced that the implementation of tariffs will make the United States wealthier than ever. "Tariffs are going to be the greatest thing we've ever done as a country," assured the President of the USA. He also stated that he is optimistic about the talks between the US and Ukrainian delegates, which will take place on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia.
During his trip from Florida to Washington, President Donald Trump emphasized the benefits of implementing tariffs on foreign goods.
"Tariffs are about making America rich again and making America great again. And it's happening, and it will happen rather quickly," assured the President of the USA.
"In fact, already, numerous car companies have announced that they will be building massive automobile plants in America, with Honda just announcing a new plant in Indiana, one of the largest anywhere in the world," said Trump.
He stated that these tariffs would amount to "hundreds of billions of dollars." "We’re going to become so rich you’re not going to know where to spend all that money," Trump said. "I'm telling you; you just watch. We're going to have jobs. We're going to have open factories. It's going to be great," he envisioned a bright future.
Optimism before talks with Ukraine
Trump also addressed the upcoming talks between the USA and Ukraine, scheduled to take place in Riyadh. He expressed optimism about their outcome, emphasizing that "we're going to make a lot of progress, I believe, this week." The US President is hopeful for an agreement concerning the exploitation of Ukrainian mineral resources.
The American delegation will include, in addition to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff. On the Ukrainian side, participants will include, among others, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha and Chief of Staff of the President Andriy Yermak.
The meeting in Riyadh will take place without Russia's participation. Trump emphasized that he expects greater involvement from Ukraine in striving for peace, which is crucial for further cooperation.
