While the specifics of their conversation remain undisclosed, Bloomberg highlights Trump's escalated engagement in international affairs. Only last week, his advisors orchestrated a meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei.
Shared Stance on Ukraine
Both Orban and Trump exhibit hesitancy in extending support to Ukraine. The ex-US President urged Republicans to withdraw from a bipartisan support package for Kyiv. In contrast, Orban has obstructed EU financial aid to Ukraine and stalled the process of Sweden's admission into NATO.
Trump has consistently declared his intention to pursue a peace agreement for Ukraine should he re-enter the White House. Nevertheless, he has yet to detail his planned approach.
Although Trump aspires to resume the presidency in the USA, various hurdles stand in his way, including legal conflicts. Nonetheless, in February, Viktor Orban publicly supported Trump's bid for re-election.
"We don't meddle in other nations' electoral processes, but we sincerely hope that President Donald Trump can return to the White House and restore peace to Eastern Europe," stated the Hungarian leader.
The last encounter between Orban and Trump occurred in 2022 at the latter's golf club in New Jersey, right before the conservative CPAC summit.
