Trump survives shooting: Secret Service Director resigns

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle tendered her resignation - Reuters reported. On Monday, Cheatle stated that the assassination attempt on the Republican candidate for President of the USA, Donald Trump, was "the agency's biggest operational failure" in decades.

"On July 13, we failed," Cheatle said, admitting that she takes "full responsibility for any security breaches by our agency" during Trump's campaign rally in Pennsylvania, where the Republican presidential candidate was injured in the ear.

Assassination attempt on Donald Trump

To recap, on July 13, there was an unsuccessful assassination attempt on Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for President of the USA. The former President of the United States was shot in the ear. According to the FBI, the assassin was a 20-year-old Pennsylvania resident named Thomas Matthew Crooks. The attack resulted in two deaths, including Crooks, and two others were seriously injured.

In the upcoming presidential election, Donald Trump was set to face the current President of the USA, Joe Biden. However, the Democrat announced that he would not be running. Biden endorsed current Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate, although she has not yet received the official nomination from the party. The election in the USA will take place on November 5.
