Trump slams Colorado portrait, calls for immediate removal
Donald Trump has harshly criticized artist Sarah Boardman for painting an "unfavorable" portrait that currently hangs in the Colorado State Capitol. The former president is demanding that Governor Jared Polis remove the artwork, which is displayed alongside portraits of other presidents.
Trump expressed his dissatisfaction, claiming that the portrait in Colorado was deliberately distorted. "Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before," Trump wrote.
Sarah Boardman, the artist responsible for the portrait, previously painted Barack Obama during his presidency, which according to Trump was a successful work.
"She must have lost her talent as she got older," Trump added.
Reactions of Colorado residents
Trump claims that many Colorado residents have contacted him to express their discontent over the unfavorable portrait. He added that he is reaching out on their behalf to Governor Polis, whom he believes to be very weak on the issue of fighting crime. "Jared should be ashamed!" he concluded.
The portrait was first unveiled in 2019, during Trump's first term in the White House. It is unclear what prompted him to express his dissatisfaction on social media on Sunday evening.
