Trump secures victory with surprising voter shifts
According to CNN, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris failed to gain sufficient support among women. Meanwhile, the election winner, Donald Trump, successfully mobilized men and voter groups previously unattainable to him.

Harris received fewer votes from women than Joe Biden in 2020 and Hillary Clinton in 2016. CNN reports that this is particularly concerning given that a significant portion of her campaign focused on the issue of abortion.
On the other hand, Trump attracted not only men but also voters who previously seemed beyond his reach. The Republicans focused on mobilizing first-time voters and succeeded in this effort. In this year's election, more new voters supported Trump than Harris, although their numbers were smaller than in 2020.
Trump reached new voters
Latinos, who traditionally support Democrats, mostly voted for Trump, which was a surprise for Harris's team. She had counted on their votes, especially in swing states. While Latina women did support the Democratic candidate, they did so to a lesser extent than they did for Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden previously.
The Democratic Party also saw a decline in support among the youngest voters, who typically favor it. Nonetheless, Harris gained slightly among the oldest Americans, traditionally voting for Republicans. Additionally, Democrats captured some of Trump's electorate among white voters with higher education—this year, Harris gained 10 percentage points more in this group than four years ago.
The economic condition is crucial for Americans
CNN highlights the growing dissatisfaction of Americans with the condition of the US economy. While four years ago, voters were almost evenly split on this assessment, now two-thirds consider the economy to be in poor condition. This change in sentiment has significantly benefited Trump, despite the 2020 economic crisis being caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to AP calculations, Donald Trump won 291 electoral votes, securing victory in the presidential election in the USA. The President-elect has already thanked Americans for choosing him as the head of state. Republicans are likely to gain control of the Senate and have a chance to maintain their majority in the House of Representatives.
