Trump returns with Diet Coke button back to Oval Office
The inauguration of Donald Trump's presidency concluded on Monday. The Republican returned to the White House after a four-year hiatus, and along with Trump, the iconic Diet Coke button also returned to the Oval Office.
According to "The Wall Street Journal," on January 20, after Trump's inaugural ceremony, a red button located in a wooden box was found on his desk.
Trump showed off the Oval Office
This is the "iconic" button for ordering Diet Coke. It was first installed during Trump's initial term, but in 2021, President Joe Biden ordered its removal.
Trump is known for his fondness for Diet Coke and has frequently emphasized that he does not drink alcohol because his brother, Fred Trump Jr., passed away in the early 1980s due to complications related to alcoholism.
"Wars start and end there"
“We're going to be going over to the beautiful Oval Office, one of the great offices in history, even if it wasn't beautiful, it's the Oval Office, but it is beautiful, and we love the Oval Office,” said Trump at Capitol One Arena on Monday after the inauguration ceremony at the Capitol. “Wars start and end there. Everything starts and ends at the Oval Office,” he added.
On Monday, the newspaper noted that a portrait of George Washington was hung over the fireplace in the Oval Office, flanked by portraits of Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson.
Four years ago, Biden removed military service flags from the Oval Office, but on Monday, Trump's team restored them to their places.
When Biden was sworn in as president in 2021, he removed a bust of Winston Churchill from the Oval Office. On Monday, the bust of Churchill returned to its spot by the fireplace.
Both Trump and Biden displayed a bust of Martin Luther King Jr. in the Oval Office, which, as noted by "The Wall Street Journal," remained there at the beginning of Trump's second term. Also, on Monday, new silver eagle figurines appeared on the mantelpiece.
