Photos from Harris's campaign: they say it all
The AFP agency published photos from Kamala Harris's headquarters. Democrats' supporters are dismayed.
The photos were taken at a time when Donald Trump had secured 227 electoral votes, and Kamala Harris had 189.
To win the presidential election in the United States, a candidate must secure a majority of the electoral votes, which is 270 out of 538 possible.
The electoral voting system assigns each state a certain number of electoral votes, depending on its population size. Voters in each state choose electors, who then vote for the president. Therefore, these elections are decided by state results, not just the nationwide vote.
The Senate for Republicans
The AP agency reported that Republicans will take control of the Senate based on current outcomes in the Senate races in Ohio, West Virginia, Texas, and Nebraska.
It is still unknown what the Republican advantage in the Senate will be or whether they will maintain a majority in the House of Representatives.
