Trump nominates fast-food exec and agent for top positions
U.S. President Donald Trump announced the nomination of former fast-food chain executive Andrew Puzder as the new U.S. ambassador to the European Union. Trump also nominated Secret Service agent Sean Curran, who was responsible for his protection, as the new head of the service.
Puzder was previously the head of CKE Restaurants, which operates the regional fast-food restaurant chains Hardee's and Carl's Jr.
Trump makes more decisions
"During his 17 year tenure as CEO, Andy led the company out of serious financial difficulty, allowing it to survive, become financially secure, and grow. Andy will do an excellent job representing our Nation’s interests in this important region," Donald Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.
In 2017, Puzder was nominated by Trump as a candidate for Secretary of Labor but was forced to withdraw due to allegations against him, including employing illegal immigrants, mistreating employees, and domestic violence. If confirmed this time, Puzder will replace Mark Gitenstein in Brussels, a lawyer nominated by President Biden.
On Wednesday, Trump also announced the nomination of Sean Curran as the head of the Secret Service. Curran was responsible for the USSS team protecting Trump for four years and was with him during an assassination attempt on his life in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The new U.S. president also chose conservative publicist and activist Brent Bozell as the head of the Global Media Agency, which oversees American public media, including Radio Free Europe and Voice of America. Bozell is a former Trump critic who focused on criticizing liberal media. His son was among the over a thousand people pardoned by Trump, having previously been convicted for participating in the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.
