Trump names Hollywood stars as 'special ambassadors'
On January 20, the inauguration of the new President of the United States will take place, but Donald Trump has already started tidying up the country, which will not spare Hollywood, a longtime supporter of the Democrats. For this purpose, he appointed "special ambassadors"—Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson, and Jon Voight.
Before the elections, there were not many supporters of Donald Trump in Hollywood. The most loyal enthusiast of the Republican candidate was Oscar-winner and Angelina Jolie's father, Jon Voight, who has been actively supporting Trump for ten years. Also on the list of supporters of the 45th and 47th President of the USA are Hulk Hogan, Dennis Quaid, James Woods, Jim Caviezel, known for his role as Jesus in "The Passion," its director Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone. Stallone did not actively support Trump but showed his sympathy after the elections when he took the podium during the America First Policy Conference.
As it turns out, Donald Trump knows how to return the favor. Just a few days before the inauguration, information was announced on social media that the new president created a special unit aimed at restoring Hollywood to its former glory and removing it from the influence of foreign interests.
"It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California. They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE! These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!," Donald Trump explains his decision.
Critics of this idea, and there will likely be many not only in Hollywood, point out that Donald Trump’s "guard" is already of quite an age (Jon Voight recently turned 86, Sylvester Stallone is 78, and Mel Gibson is 69) and may not possess the competencies to carry out "reforms."
Interestingly, the appointed "ambassadors" themselves probably didn't know about Trump's idea. "I got the tweet at the same time as all of you and was just as surprised. Nevertheless, I heed the call. My duty as a citizen is to give any help and insight I can," said Gibson in a statement to Variety.
