"The New York Times" notes that Russia-born Epshteyn has already presented his proposal to Trump.
Epshteyn, who has no experience in foreign policy, allegedly argued that he has relatives in both Russia and Ukraine. "NYT" reports that the lawyer's idea surprised many people in Trump's circle, including Elon Musk. However, the President-elect reportedly listened with interest.
"The New York Times" emphasizes that Epshteyn is currently under investigation in Arizona for his actions in attempting to overturn the 2020 election. Despite this, Trump has not dismissed his proposal.
