Trump hints at Canada-US merger for free defense shield
Donald Trump has once again revisited the idea of annexing Canada to the United States. Trump stated that if Canada were to become the 51st state of the USA, it could benefit from the protection offered by the "Golden Dome" for free. Otherwise, it would need to pay for access.
On Tuesday, Trump discussed this project on the platform truthsocial.com. According to him, Canada has shown interest in participating in the development of this system.
"I told Canada, which very much wants to be part of our fabulous Golden Dome System, that it will cost $61 Billion Dollars if they remain a separate, but unequal, Nation, but will cost ZERO DOLLARS if they become our cherished 51st State," Trump stated.
He mentioned that the authorities in Ottawa are "considering the offer," although previously, Canadian politicians have repeatedly rejected Trump's demands, emphasizing the country's independence and sovereignty.
"Golden Dome": There are doubts
Although Trump assures nearly 100-percent effectiveness of the system, not everyone is convinced of its feasibility.
Senator Tim Sheehy believes the cost could reach trillions of dollars, and Gen. Glen VanHerck estimates the implementation could take 5-10 years.
While a detailed plan for the shield has not yet been presented, Trump, along with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Space Force General Michael Guetlein, who has been chosen to lead the project, mentioned that the new shield, named "Golden Dome" by Trump, is anticipated to be multi-layered, based on open architecture, integrated with existing systems, and built by various corporations.
