Trump edges ahead of Harris in pivotal states, race tightens
According to new polls conducted before the presidential elections in the USA, Donald Trump, the Republican Party candidate, has gained a slight lead over Kamala Harris in the states of Georgia and Arizona. Meanwhile, the Democrat has taken the lead in North Carolina.
A survey published Thursday and conducted by the YouGov center for CBS shows Trump leading Harris in Arizona with 51% to 48% of the vote.
In the Quinnipiac University poll, announced on Wednesday, Trump leads in Georgia with 52% to Harris's 45%, while in North Carolina, Harris holds a slight advantage with 49% to Trump's 47%.
An extremely tight race
With less than three weeks before the elections, emotions are at a fever pitch, and the race for the highest office in the USA remains extremely close. "Forbes" magazine notes that these polls only add to the tension in the campaign.
It's important to remember that Kamala Harris was nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate after the incumbent, President Joe Biden, withdrew from the race at the end of July. He made this decision following an unsuccessful debate with Trump. Polls indicated that Trump would defeat Biden in most key states, influencing his withdrawal.
The presidential elections will take place on November 5.
