Trump denies Pentagon briefing Musk on China war plans

- We don't want to have a potential war with China, but I can tell you, if we did, we're very well equipped to handle it - announced Donald Trump on Friday. When asked about reports that the Pentagon had informed Elon Musk about the U.S. military's plans regarding a potential war with that country, he said, "it is a false story."

According to information reported on Thursday by "The New York Times," the Pentagon was supposedly set to inform Elon Musk on Friday about the U.S. military's plans regarding a potential war with China.

"Giving Musk access to the country's most closely guarded military secrets would be a drastic expansion of his already extensive role as an advisor to President Trump and a key advocate for efforts to cut spending and 'clean' the government of those who oppose them," assessed the "NYT."

"If it comes to war, we are prepared"

During Friday's conference, Donald Trump, when asked by journalists, commented on these reports. - We don't want to have a potential war with China, but I can tell you, if we did, we're very well equipped to handle it - he stated initially.

Shortly after, referring to Elon Musk, he announced that he would not want to share such information with him.

- Certainly you wouldn't show it to a businessman who is helping us so much, - said the U.S. president, assessing that Musk "is a great patriot."

- He's paying a big price for helping us cut costs, and he's doing a great job. He's finding tremendous waste, fraud and abuse - continued Trump (he appointed Musk as the head of DOGE - a new governmental institution tasked with reducing unnecessary budget expenditures - ed.). He also noted that "Elon has businesses in China and he would be susceptible perhaps to that."

Both Trump and U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth rejected the New York Times report regarding Elon Musk. During the conference, the U.S. president went further, dismissing the article as untrue and criticizing the publication, likening it to CNN in terms of credibility.
