Trump declares border emergency, vows to end illegal crossings
Donald Trump announced a state of emergency at the border with Mexico and the deployment of troops there. These actions aim to immediately halt illegal border crossings.
"All illegal border crossings will result in detention, and we will begin the process of deporting millions of illegal immigrants back to where they came from," Donald Trump said in his inaugural speech.
Sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, Trump announced plans to implement a state of emergency on the southern border with Mexico.
This decision aims to immediately halt illegal border crossings and begin deporting criminals to their countries of origin.
"Catch and Release"
Trump also announced that he would reinstate the policy of having immigrants remain in Mexico and end the practice of "catch and release." Additionally, the president plans to send troops to the border to counteract illegal immigration, which he described as a "disastrous invasion."
As part of the fight against crime, Trump intends to designate drug cartels as terrorist organizations. He will also utilize a 1798 law to enable federal and state law enforcement agencies to effectively eliminate foreign gangs and criminal networks.
