In a conversation with a journalist, Trump was asked whether he thinks the President of Russia will listen to his earlier call to halt the bombings. He answered affirmatively.

Trump confident Putin will listen

The US president expressed his belief that Putin would listen to him and halt the attacks on Ukraine.

The exchange took place during the official welcoming of the Norwegian head of government.

A moment later, Trump emphasized that, in his opinion, both sides of the conflict are interested in peace, and the prospect of reaching an agreement is real. When pressed about a potential timeline for concluding negotiations, he stated that he has his own time frames. However, he noted that if the talks do not yield results at the expected pace, he will change his approach to a "definitely different" one.

"Vladimir, stop!" Trump comments on the appeal to Putin

The war in Ukraine is expected to be one of the main topics of discussion conducted by the leaders, including former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who currently serves as the Minister of Finance in the Norwegian government.

Earlier, on Thursday morning, Trump referred to the Russian missile attack on Kyiv, which resulted in the deaths of at least nine people and injured more than 60. The former U.S. President expressed his outrage in a post on the Truth Social platform.

"I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!" wrote Trump.
