  • A conversation between presidential candidate Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk on platform X began almost 45 minutes late. Musk stated that a massive hacking attack on the platform caused technical problems. The conversation, announced by Trump’s team as "the biggest interview in history," was scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM, but platform users could not join the broadcast for over half an hour.
  • Over 961 lbs of heroin were seized by Bulgarian authorities. According to the local prosecutor’s office, large quantities of the drug were found in a container at the Bulgarian Black Sea port of Burgas.
  • On Monday, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute reported that Norway's Arctic archipelago, Svalbard, recorded a record August temperature of 68 degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday. The absolute temperature record for this archipelago was set on July 25, 2020, at 71 degrees.
  • A record temperature was also recorded in the United Kingdom. In Cambridge, 94 degrees Fahrenheit was recorded on Monday afternoon, the highest temperature this year in the UK, according to the Met Office. Meteorologists stated that Monday was the peak of a heatwave lasting several days, and the temperature is expected to drop.
