A new election poll has been conducted in the United States, revealing some significant changes. The race appears to be very close.

According to a new CNN poll conducted by the American research firm SSRS, Trump currently has 49 percent of voter support, while 46 percent of respondents intend to vote for Kamala Harris.

CNN emphasizes that this is a closer competition than what was shown in the previous Biden-Trump poll.

Changes in the polls

As TVN24 notes, "the new poll indicates some significant changes in the early stages of the Harris-Trump race."

"Harris has retained the support of 95 percent of the voters who previously stated in surveys that they support Biden. Meanwhile, Trump maintains the support of 92 percent of his previous supporters," the report reads.

CNN also points out that half of those supporting Harris in the new poll indicate that their vote is more an expression of support for the candidate rather than opposition to Trump.

Poll by Ipsos and Reuters

However, according to a poll conducted on Monday and Tuesday by Ipsos and Reuters, Kamala Harris has a two-point lead over Donald Trump in the race for the United States presidency. The Vice President leads with 44 percent to 42 percent.

Reuters emphasizes that the difference between Harris and Trump falls within the margin of error of 3 percentage points.

In the poll conducted on July 15-16, Harris and Trump both recorded 44 percent, and in the poll from July 1-2, Trump led by one percentage point, with the same margin of error.

Reuters notes that the poll conducted on Monday and Tuesday showed that 56 percent of registered voters agreed that the 59-year-old Harris is "mentally strong and capable of handling challenges." Similarly, 49 percent of respondents described the 78-year-old Trump this way. Twenty-two percent of voters assessed Biden this way.
