On the Truth Social platform, Donald Trump announced that 25-percent tariffs on goods imported from Mexico and Canada will take effect on Tuesday, March 4. This is a significant change from earlier announcements, which indicated that the tariffs were to be effective only on April 2.

Changes in trade with China

Simultaneously with the tariffs on goods from North America, an additional 10-percent tariff will be implemented on products imported from China. This decision will also take effect on March 4, accelerating the original timeline.

Earlier executive orders from President Donald Trump on February 1 called for a one-month delay in imposing tariffs on imports from the United States' northern neighbors. As recently as Wednesday, Trump stated that these regulations would begin on April 2.

Possible further tariffs

Trump confirmed that the date of April 2 remains in place for introducing so-called reciprocal tariffs. They will implement the day after his administration completes the appropriate analyses.

The matter remains ongoing, and details concerning reciprocal tariffs are still being examined. The Trump administration is also considering incorporating value-added taxes into its tariff policy.

Trump targets the EU

On Wednesday, Donald Trump announced that the USA would impose 25-percent tariffs on cars and other goods imported from the European Union. Previously, Trump also announced new EU tariffs on steel and aluminum. While signing the documents, Trump described the move as a major step toward revitalizing the U.S. economy, stating that it would lead to the opening of many new businesses in the country.

According to the President of the USA, the European Union was created to cheat the United States.
