While on vacation, it's easy to get lost in carefree relaxation and sightseeing and, as a result, lower your guard. Cunning pickpockets and other scammers often take advantage of this. The trick that Jeff and Lauren demonstrated can help us avoid falling victim to thieves.

Travel tricks

"I always do this!" wrote a woman who demonstrated how she secures her bag with a cable tie. Jeff threads the cable tie through the buckle of his fanny pack and tightens it so that a thief interested in the loot cannot quickly unfasten and steal it. The woman presents everything in an instructional video.

This trick seems to be particularly helpful when visiting especially crowded places. For example, in Rome or Spanish cities, near the most popular monuments, it's crowded almost all year round. In the crowd, you might not even feel that someone is unfastening your purse.

Dozens of such cable ties cost just a few dollars and can save us a lot of trouble.

Simple ways can help in travel

This is not the only travel trick that can use a cable tie. A tourist shows how to deal with a partially broken zipper. To make it easier to slide it for closing and opening the suitcase, you can thread a cable tie through the place where the handle should be. You shouldn't fully tighten it. This will serve as a replacement for a broken handle, and the suitcase will be useful during future travels.
