We've received shocking news from the United States. Famous boxer, Samuel Teah (19-5-1, 8 KO), has tragically died at the age of 36. Teah, a high-ranking junior welterweight fighter, was fatally shot during a family dispute.

US media confirms Samuel Teah's death. The American was reportedly shot in Philadelphia during Thanksgiving, amidst a dispute connected to the current boyfriend of his child's mother, according to various media reports and representatives from the boxing world.

Career highs and lows

Samuel Teah, an enigmatic figure in the boxing world. Throughout his career, he defeated major junior welterweight fighters, boasting victories over Kenneth Sims Jr and O'Shaq Foster. However, he later experienced losses to significantly lower-ranked boxers. His most recent knockout loss was in May against Andrew Rodgers, an opponent with more losses than wins. Teah had originally been set to fight again in January 2024, a match that now, tragically, won't occur.

Narrowly escaped death before

The boxer had a challenging past. A native of Liberia, Teah moved to Ghana with his family to escape civil war when he was just five. Five years later, they all relocated to the USA. However, once in America, he was faced with a tragic family event.

In 2008, Teah's family home was engulfed in flames. The boxer miraculously survived, but lost most of his family. Seven people, including Teah's mother, sisters, older brother, nephew, two nieces, and a family friend, perished in the fire.

"The saddening news and tragic demise of a man who had once overcome a personal catastrophe. Sam was a good man and a true warrior. May he rest in peace alongside the family he has lost. Our condolences go out to all those who knew and loved him" - wrote renowned boxing promoter Lou DiBella.
