Tragic end to paradise: Russian lecturer murdered in Mauritius

For her, it was a summer adventure; for him, it was love. Videos showing the last moments of the 29-year-old Russian woman’s life have emerged online, revealing the tragedy that unfolded during her paradise vacation in Mauritius.
Zaliya Shamigulova was last seen alive a week ago on the tropical island of Mauritius, where Puryavirsingh Sundur allegedly murdered her. Sundur stabbed her to death and then cut out her tongue. He allegedly did this so she "couldn't call for help."
The Russian woman was found dead with several stab wounds to her chest. During the autopsy, it was discovered that her tongue had been cut out, and a piece of her throat was removed.
Zaliya was a university lecturer working in Chelyabinsk. She had been on the island since August 17 and went missing after leaving her rented apartment near the picturesque Flic-en-Flac beach.

Videos emerged online showing Zaliya getting into a blue car. She was later supposed to meet Puryavirsingh Sundur, whom she met on Tinder. The 29-year-old IT engineer from Mauritius became the main suspect in the murder of the Russian woman.
The man allegedly confessed to Zaliya's murder and gave statements about how he killed her.
The body of the 29-year-old Russian woman was found naked, mutilated, and buried in a shallow grave. Media reports indicate that detectives continue to search for the murdered woman's clothes. Investigators suspect that the killer intended to cut up the woman's body but ultimately buried it in a makeshift grave.
The suspect allegedly led the police to the grave in La Marie, a residential district. The police report noted: "He said he was deeply in love with 29-year-old Zaliya Shamigulova and claimed he planned to marry her."
During interrogation, the 29-year-old allegedly admitted that he had found out about his newly met girlfriend’s infidelity.
On Saturday, the man went to take the Russian woman on a tour of the island, but in a fit of jealousy, he pulled out a knife and brutally killed his lover, then stripped and buried her body, according to the police report.
A funeral ceremony was organized for Zaliya in Mauritius. Her body is now set to be transported to Russia.
